We spent most of today programming our message using the Arduino program. Some of us programmed our names in morse code, and others of us programmed a quote in morse code. A few of us figured out the rhythms of our favorite songs and programmed the beats into our microchip.
In my STEAM group (Solar Geo Lanterns), we are working on each making our own solar powered lantern. It is not easy. We are learning so many new techniques, like soldering, which is the fusing of two pieces of metal together, so that electricity can flow through them. We are also learning about Archimedean solids, which are three dimensional shapes. We need to know about these because they are what our lanterns will be shaped as. Another important thing that our teachers are teaching us is closed and open circuits. The reason for this is because we have and are going to be making these, to put in our lanterns and make them light up. I love my workshop; the teachers are really nice, helpful, and attentive. I have a lot of fun, and am learning so much. – Indigo W, 7th Grade
